Equality is the Foundation of Nation’s Unity
In earlier times, women weren’t given the equal legal rights as males to live a happy and respectable life in the society. People always look down and underestimate women as they are known to be weak and vulnerable. They got the habit to not give women that much attention in terms of their ability in contributing to the development and modernization of the society. But now, they attained true equality. There have been huge changes for women in the past decades regarding from their role in community. However, these days, women are still prejudiced against in certain cultures because of their femininity. Therefore, they seek for equality among genders as a matter of social equity.
Women plays an important role in society, especially inside the house or family. Mothers and even daughters are responsible for doing household chores. They are expected to do everything inside the house, laundry, cleaning, cooking and serving all the members of the family. Furthermore, they also have other responsibilities outside the house. During pandemic, we can’t survive and fight the virus without women’s support. In the field of medicine and education, most of the workers are women. Conceivably because women have traditionally served as the caregivers of the health of their family and community. They are more knowledgeable in taking care and for being the second mother of students and patients. Beside that, there are also women working as a servant of the country, such as police, firefighter and even soldiers. There are also female politicians who proved that women can also lead. Corazon Aquino, she is the first female President in the Philippines. Vice President Leni Robredo who’s running for President this year’s election. Other than that, this female weightlifters also showed her strength in sports which everyone really admire and very proud of. She is Hidilyn Diaz, the Filipino female weightlifter who lifted 127 kilograms of weight and won gold medal in Tokyo Olympics 2020. Catriona Magnayon Gray, the winner of Miss Universe 2018. Ms. Gray was not entitled for nothing, despite of being intelligent and pretty, she won because of her beautiful heart in serving Filipinos. She made advocacies and has been volunteering for Young Focus in Tondo, Manila and helped the non-profit organization raise funds in building an educational center for its young beneficiaries.
