Kannawidan Festival 2022: Celebration During Pandemic
Kannawidan is one of the most awaited festival in our province. It aims to promote the products,dishes, and traditions of each town in Ilocos Sur. There are also some activities and events happened during the festival. It was held from the last week of January until the first week of February at Tamag Grounds,Vigan City.
This festival showcases the tradition,culture,delicacies, arts and crafts of Ilocos Sur. They separated the venue of trade fair and events to avoid crowd and the spread of the virus. The trade fair was held in Tamag Grounds while the events are in Quirino Stadium. Also limited people only who can go inside. There are some events organized by the City Government such as art contests,pageants, best booth competition and many more. The winners of the contests were awarded and given cash prizes. There are also some Filipino artists, celebrities, and also beauty queens invited to join our Festival. Like our Miss Universe 2020 top 21 Rabiya Mateo, Miss Universe 2021 Beatrice Luigi Gomez who became one of the judges to choose for the Miss Saniata ti Ylocos 2022. There is also a concert tribute to our Frontliners performed by the famous Filipino bands like December Avenue, Agsunta, some Youtube Vloggers like Jamill, Erika Pineda etc. Some Filipino Comedians also joined and performed in the stage to entertain people. The celebration has greatly contributed to the livelihood of the people and the economy of our province, especially the income during the trade and food fair.

This year’s celebration is way much different and better compared to the last few years of pandemic. It shows that we are really doing well and improving, and hopefully will go back to normal someday.
